Black River Bait Co. was started by long
time friends Laird Dickinson and Greg
"Sonny" Prewitt. The two friends spent
most summer days fishing the Black
River (in Wisconsin) for muskie and
smallmouth bass. Like most fishermen
they started making their own baits as a
way to get through the long Wisconsin
winters. When summer would arrive
both fishermen were eager to test their
winter creations and were surprised to
find that they actually caught fish!!!
They started using their baits to fish
local tournaments and they started
winning!!
Their winter hobby quickly lead into an
obsession!! Before long they were
producing baits daily and testing new
ones. They originally started making
and designing the baits for themselves,
but as news got out about their
tournament winnings, the demand for
the baits grew.
Their mission was always to produce
high quality baits, but at a price
everyone could afford. They also
wanted to manufacture baits that
actually caught fish......not just
fishermen.
They stayed true to their mission and
contiue to produce some of the highest
quality baits available today!
